City and stillness
For many people, Leiden is a lively university city. Yet there are moments when it reveals a very different side. Early in the morning, late in the evening, or in a quiet park, the bustle and noise seem far away. In these paintings, I look for that quieter side of the city. Not its busy streets, but its silent alleyways, soft light, and those places where, for a moment, you can forget that you are in the middle of a city.
